FREE Sewing Lessons In September

September kicks of National Sewing Month- you'll find great deals on sewing related products, new patterns, tutorials, and giveaways on the web for those of you who already love to sew. The Sewing Loft is issuing a challenge (watch for the announcement on Friday!) and over on We All Sew will be hosting a community event & giving away a new BERNINA sewing machine. This year I'm going to do something a little different by giving away free beginner level sewing lessons to, well, everyone!!

At least once a week I meet someone who wishes to learn how to sew- fear of the machine, overwhelmed by the thread path, or just in general not sure where you actually start. Not to mention my area doesn't even have a local shop or store they could go to for help. I'm helping take these factors out of the equation and encouraging friends and family around the world to learn something new. Join my facebook group, TrashN2Tees Creative Reuse Community to participate in this weekly crash course for the whole month of September. I will stream live every Thursday at 11am EST for about 30 minutes but hope that you are engaged and asking questions which I promise to answer the best I can.

I don't expect that I will plant a magic seed that fosters a love of fashion design for the next winner of Project Runway- but it could happen?! My goal is that sewing machines come out of the closet and onto tables around the world for just one month. I want to provide new sewist of any age a valuable learning experience, helping them to understand how a sewing machine works and gain the confidence they need to hem a shirt, add a button, or make their first quilt.
