Do you strive for balance or harmony?

My life style is laid back, and as much as possible I try to
run my full time business without a rigid routine. PB+J by the creek,
silly dance contests, and mid-day cuddles are all mainstays in my week
long plans. I have to be honest, I think balance is bullshit. It's
challenge to create, edit photos, respond to emails, cook
breakfast/lunch/dinner, pitch magazines, blog, vacuum, coordinate
community events and nurture the inquisitive minds of a 3 and 6 year
old- but it can be done. It
doesn't have to translate to an orderly date book (or be done all on
the same day & it's okay to ask for help) When you strive for this illusion of balance- you get a
deadline, ear infection, or a genius idea. I work on weekends, forget
birthdays, and sometimes my hamburgers end up like hockey pucks (and you already know I can't bake!) It's not balance I'm looking for in my life- its harmony. How about you? How do you achieve it?
I completely agree with you, Jenelle (notice the correct spelling this time?)... life HARMONY is something to strive for - I think most of us are just teetering on the very thin thread of life hoping it all works out!
ReplyDeleteLoving the new website look, by the way - keep your momentum, my dear, it suits you ;-)

:) I agree Geri, it's so easy to get caught up in finding a perfect balance- work family home life community obligtions wants needs life desires. I believe its possible to thrive on a healthy version on harmonious chaos- as long as you're able to remain passionate & keep yourself in check.
DeleteI agree ... balance is like a perfect, air-brushed picture of a model ... not realistic. Harmony, on the other hand, seems to me to be the way to find joy in every day. It's that ability to let life happen and enjoy all the twists and turns in the road. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove your example. Balance is a unicorn. Now I want to brain storm all sorts of clever responses for balance is.....
